CIE Engineering Program

CIE Engineering Program

"The best part about our program is the pre-rotation we did. We had two months of training. The first two weeks are orientation. Then we work in a dealership for a week and shadow each department. They want us to have a broad understanding of the whole organization.

When I first came here, I moved about in the different departments. I though I would be able to get more than a job. I also thought I’d get a nice jump start, and that’s exactly what I’m getting. You get lots of advice, and you get to see what you actually can do.

The CIE program really got me here. Out of college, most people don’t know what they want to do. This rotational program lets you find out what you like and what you don’t. You also get to meet people you wouldn’t otherwise meet."

Quality Engineer

Bill

Quality Engineer

“The goal and mission of the Quality division is to ensure that all our vehicles perform significantly better than industry average and that we remain a leader from a reliability perspective.

If you design a good car to begin with, you don’t have to worry about how to fix it. Cross–functional assignments help engineers understand the whole process of designing and building cars. We ask our engineers to take rotational assignments in other functional areas, like Manufacturing and Quality, so they in turn understand how it’s done. What has happened is a realization that we’re reliant on one another. We sell cars that we make, and we need to understand one another’s work to ensure that the whole process works together.

Quality has always been a part of the organization, but hasn’t always had a seat at ‘the big table’—until now. The current leadership team views it as a strategic component of the industrial team instead of the ‘squeaky voice in the background.’ It’s been a real game-changer for us.”

Supply Chain Manager

Rueben

Supply Chain Manager

"Chrysler truly is, especially now with Sergio leading the ship, a meritocracy. Performance and achievements are recognized. There are opportunities for advancement for those who feel like there is more to contribute. I felt I did 10 years ago, as a skilled tradesman at the Mack Engine Plant. Thankfully, my managers all felt the same way.

Today, I’m in Supply Chain Management. In Supply Chain, you act as the link between the customer and the manufacturer. You have to be highly maneuverable, both in terms of technical expertise and ability to deal with people. And you need to be able to keep up with the fast pace. Priorities change a lot!

At Chrysler, you have the ability to contribute in the decision–making process, and you have more impact than you might think in a large organization. It’s a flat organization, and you get immediate exposure to senior leadership. In that way, you can help steer the ship.”

La Shirl

Head of Color and Materials

“Growing up, I was always surrounded by cars. I had a passion for cars and a passion for textile design, but no idea that there was a way to merge those two interests. I knew nothing about the color and trim world until I talked to someone at Chrysler and was offered a job in the department I now lead. I can honestly say that conversation changed my life.

My department, Advanced Color and Materials, works with illustrators who help us develop proposals for new fabrics and colors. The designers help with cross branding. We’re a cross-functional team with a variety of professionals who go out of their way to help each other achieve the best possible result. That combination of diversity and teamwork is our greatest strength.

Over the past couple of years, quality has moved to the forefront here at Chrysler. Our people are going the extra mile and working together to make sure we’re always producing the best possible products. It’s our common goal and the driving force behind everything we do.”
